My Birth Day
"On November 4, 1994 I fluttered into my Mommy and Daddy's lives. Since I was three weeks overdue, Mommy thought she was going to have a huge baby. But I totally surprised her: I only weighed 5lbs 9oz. and was 17 1/2 inches long. The smallest baby Mommy ever had!
They said I looked like a little doll--lots of dark hair and absolutely gorgeous! My brothers and sisters all visited me in the hospital and took turns holding me.
I was born by emergency c-section because of some problems. The doctors thought from the beginning that there could be a chromosome problem because I was tiny and had overlapping index fingers. But Mommy and Daddy said they were crazy. After all, they had four healthy kids at home, so why should I be different?"
At Home
"When I was two weeks old my parents found out that the doctors were right: I had trisomy 18, an extra 18th chromosome in every cell in my body. So while you would think that this extra chromosome would give me super-baby powers, in reality it has the opposite effect. My family was told that I probably wouldn't have a very long time with them before i went back home to Heaven to live with God and the Angels. This made them very sad, but they were determined that I would have the best life possible.
I was baptized on November 23, 1994 at the Thanksgiving Service. I was now a true Child of God! Uncle Kevin and Aunt Julie were my sponsors."
